Drywall is one of the most efficient materials that is used in homes, offices and commercial spaces. It is cost-effective, durable, strong and easily available. It is a great way to hide any unwanted visuals like hanging electrical wires or outlets. Installing drywall may seem as easy as nailing a pin to the wall, but for someone who wants perfect results, it is always better to rely on professional services. A professional contractor will have the right tools and know the right techniques that get the job done on time and without any damage or harm to the foundation. So how do we install drywall and how do we finish it to perfection?

What Is Involved In Installing Drywall?

Although installing drywall does not require too many complex tools or machinery, we have the right set of tools to get the work done. Also, it is a physically strenuous task and requires to be handles by professionals like us to avoid unnecessary injuries or accidents. The first step is to choose the right kind of drywall depending on your exact needs, budgets and extent of work. The difference in material is based on the thickness of the material used. Also, the type of drywall you use also depends on where you are installing it. For example, a bathroom that has higher humidity levels will require a different kind of drywall, as compared to an exterior garage. The placement of windows, doors and electrical outlets then needs to be considered as to not affect any of the functioning. The next step is properly measuring the drywall and also put drywall backers in place. It is then necessary to properly cut the drywall. Drywall easily gets warped and is difficult to straighten thus it is important to use precision tools and a lot of practice to make sure it gets done properly. For the finishing there are two options, one either uses finished drywall or does the finishing after final installation. Using a drywall lift is necessary to prevent accidents and injuries during the installation process. Also very large sheets of drywall cannot be properly installed without a lift offering the required support. It’s always best to start with the ceilings for perfect finish. We make sure that the joints are placed properly so they don’t crack over time and use. It is also important to select the right kind of fasteners. For example, a room that has high moisture, like the bathroom, will work better with galvanized fasteners. It is then important to screw in the drywall properly and at the right places. We slowly work the way down to the side walls.

Results You Can Be Proud Of

There are many key technical points and fundamentals that need to be kept in mind when installing and finishing drywall. Improper installation will soon lose its strength, protruding screws can cause accidents, wrong cutting for electrical outlets can lead to further difficulties and many more things. While it may seem like a ‘fun DIY’ kind of a task, the complexity and precision it requires can never be obtained with experts who have the tools and know the right techniques of installing and finishing drywall. At Fairfax Contractors we have many years of experience in helping people install and finish drywall, adding to the beauty and neat look of the spaces. A drywall can be installed in any room or corner of the home. Being one of the most pocket-friendly materials, many homeowners and commercial space owners bring in its efficient functionality. It is common for the walls to bear damage or lose their original look over time, additionally numerous electrical outlets or hanging wires cast an unorganized look and can also be dangerous. With a drywall, you can hide all these big and small ‘flaws’ that may be bothering you. It’s a faster, more efficient and more cost-effective measure than repairing or other services.
