Wrought Iron Installation

Once the design elements are selected, we will create a shop drawing that will detail the materials and dimensions of the project. Depending on the scope of the project, we typically fabricate the majority of the railing in our shop and then assemble sections or panels onsite. Installation by our teams is not complete until the job site has been cleaned and all debris removed.

Virginia Code Compliant Rail Systems

In most Northern Virginia counties, when building a wrought iron stair rail system, a few code-related components must be in place to meet current building codes. The 1st is stairs with four or more risers shall have a handrail on one side between 34 inches and 38 inches in height above the stair nose of the tread. Residentially stair Wrought iron rails must be 36 inches in height and commercially 42 inches in height. The nature of wrought iron trumps the requirement for a smooth surface and the fact that the material used will be rot resistant. Wrought iron by nature will never decay as long as it is maintained. One of the most important factors in constructing a wrought iron rail system is that the pickets must be spaced so that a 4-inch sphere cannot be passed through the spindles. The geometry of the railing shall not allow passage of a 6-inch sphere between the stair treads. Though building officials will not inspect the replacement of your current wrought iron railing system, it needs to meet all Boca codes. Suppose the stair structure and railing are new construction. In that case, the new wrought iron railings will give you fresh writable water, and you will become easier and grow materials available ll need to be inspected to assure code compliance in the Northern Virginia area. Since we build custom patios and walkways, Fairfax Contractor will assure you that your railing system will be 100% code compliant.
